I canвЂ™t say IвЂ™m particularly excited about the prospect of playing a game like this, only with more real-life accuracy and even greater emphasis on patience. This is probably the closest I will ever come to playing an actual hunting simulation. In the end, I was disappointed to have to call it quits and write this entry before my bloodlust was sated. The calls and farts (to flush out hunters) donвЂ™t seem to have any effect and the encounters appear to be purely random (I canвЂ™t believe a parody game would put to much effort into the encounter logic). I didnвЂ™t have remarkable success in this game, in any of the locations with any of the weapons. Apparently, you fling your own feces, and at an odd angle with very little range. The sling shot must be the toughest weapon to use. This is the allegedly elusive tree man, a survivalist that I saw with inordinate frequency: If youвЂ™re very lucky, you might see one of the selection of humans in the game. You can also use the binoculars to look around but this only serves to seek out humorous tidbits like amorous squirrels doing what amorous squirrels do. You can trigger more gags by pressing the вЂњcallsвЂќ icon. Your deer character will keep you entertained with a rotation of quips while you wait. But that facet is all part of the parody.

When you enter an area to hunt, you are thrust into a first person 360-degree panoramic scan of your current position, hoping - praying, even - that something will happen. Wander through the map from an overhead view and try to locate traces of hunter activity. Then you select from among either a West Virginia, Connecticut, or snowy Minnesota locale. I think these are arranged in order of difficulty, i.e., the M-16 actually has a scope and some range while the sling shot can barely launch past armвЂ™s reach. The game allows you to select from among 3 weaponsвЂ“ the M-16, the bazooka, and the sling shot. And truthfully, the game is only a vehicle by which to make fun of hunter stereotypes as well as the hunting game genre. The game is pretty quick to explain because there is not much to it. Our task is to track down and shoot as many people as possible. In the game, we play the role of a well-armed deer named Bambo. Deer Avenger is a parody of Deer Hunter games.

I guess this is a step up from, say, Visual Basic-based games and they seem to do a reasonable job with their efforts. More accurately, tonightвЂ™s game is a parody of that surprise hit genre that experienced popularity in the late 1990s (you have a hit, youвЂ™re going to see imitators and parodies). Overall, go ahead and play Deer Avenger whenever you will have the chance.Once again, I find myself drifting out into the sea of gaming genres, this time to the wildlife hunting simulation genre. The sound effects are ok and the voice acting is a bit cheesy, but it's not bad. The graphics are nicely done, however, even the graphics are cartoony, it's not really recommended for little children for there is quite some cartoon violence thrown in the game. To discover a hunter in the area you can either call out for them or, I can't believe I'm writing this down, have to fart and the latter seems to attract most of the hunters. In order to find a hunter, you need to go from one place or another or search in the location where you are. There are seven hunters to take down and none of them are even trying to shoot you down, which is kind of stupid. There are a total of three weapons in the game and three locations. The methods of hunting down your prey is hilarious and each time you kill the same hunter with a different weapon, you'll get a different animation. Developed by Simon & Schuster Interactive, this parody of hunting games is a short but fun gaming experience.

While in other hunting games, like one of the Deer Hunter games where you get to hunt deers, in Deer Avenger the roles are reversed: you're a deer who's on a hunt for, well, hunters. Deer Avenger is a game that turns the table on the animal hunting games.
